Reflector 2™ With Android™ Mirroring and New Features Available Today

Written by Sidney Keith | April 15, 2015

NORTH CANTON, OH--(April 15, 2015) - Squirrels today announced Reflector 2 with the ability to receive mirroring connections from Google Cast™-enabled Chromebooks™ and Android devices. Accompanying Android mirroring, Reflector 2 includes highly requested features and a number of improvements that make mirroring easier and quicker.

"Android and Chromebook mirroring is huge," Squirrels co-founder Andrew Gould said. "We're excited to be mirroring Android devices right up there with iPads® and iPhones®."

The addition of Google Cast to Reflector 2 makes it the first computer application in the world to support such diverse mirroring technology. Other Android mirroring solutions require subscriptions or special hardware to connect, and because of that are limited with which devices can mirror. Reflector 2 uses Google Cast, an alternative to hardware- restrictive Miracast®, and it can receive Android and iOS® connections simultaneously.

"We've also made drastic changes to recording, device management, design and performance," Gould said. "This upgrade makes Reflector the most comprehensive and all-in-one solution available."

A new device menu makes it easy to see connected devices and change settings for individual mirrored screens. Identifying or emphasizing specific devices is effortless with the added menu.

Managing connected devices is made even easier with a new companion application designed specifically to work with Reflector 2. Reflector Director™ is available today for iOS and allows users to remotely change preferences of connected devices. Using Reflector Director eliminates the need to physically interact with the computer that is hosting Reflector.

In addition, Reflector 2 brings a renewed recording experience for phone and tablet screens. Along with the ability to include microphone voice-over audio, including more than one device in a recording is now a possibility.

"While we relied heavily on feature requests from current users, Reflector 2 is a forward-looking, comprehensive solution that can change and adapt as new technology becomes available," Gould said. "Reflector 2 doesn't require any special hardware to enable Android mirroring, and it's made to work in any environment."

New users can purchase Reflector 2 for $14.99 through the Squirrels web store. For a limited time, current users can upgrade at a discounted price.

What's New in Reflector 2

Device Management - Manage preferences for individual screens and quickly view any connected device. Intelligent layouts take the guesswork out of positioning multiple connected devices.

Reflector Director - Available for iPhone and iPad, Reflector Director enables remote management of any connected device. Change device frames, hide or emphasize devices and toggle full screen mode. Reflector Director builds on the wireless freedom already granted by Reflector.

Improved Recording - Voice-over audio can now be saved with recordings, and multiple devices can be included in one recording.

Android Mirroring - Google Cast mirroring gives hundreds of Chrome OS and Android devices the ability to mirror to Reflector 2. Mirror Android phones and tablets right next to iPhones and iPads.
