Squirrels debuts new iOS/iPadOS app and Chrome browser mirroring
NORTH CANTON, Ohio — August 24, 2022 — Squirrels, a world leader in wireless audio and video transmission software, today released Ditto Director in the App Store to bring screen mirroring moderation controls to iPhone and iPad.
Ditto Director is a new iOS/iPadOS app designed to manage screen mirroring connections from any device using the Ditto screen mirroring solution. It allows users to approve or deny mirroring requests and remove connected devices when needed. The app moderates connections from Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android and Chromebook.
Squirrels CEO and co-founder Andrew Gould said Ditto Director will alleviate some of the most common concerns about wireless content sharing in public spaces, particularly in schools.
“Our education customers often worry about unwanted mirroring connections appearing on their displays from individuals looking to disrupt class,” Gould said. “Ditto already had methods to mitigate this, such as masking connection information and using on-screen connection codes. Ditto Director now gives teachers complete control over who can share and when they can share.”
Gould noted that Ditto Director brings value to professional settings as well.
“Beyond the classroom, Ditto Director is a great way to moderate meetings and presentations,” he said. “This app adds the ability to manage the flow and timing of shared content while collaborating or presenting.”
Chrome browser screen mirroring
Squirrels also launched Chrome browser screen mirroring on macOS, Windows and Chrome OS. The new Ditto Connect for Web initiates screen mirroring from a Chrome web browser, giving users the option to share their entire device screen, a window or a browser tab along with system audio.
“Chrome browser mirroring is particularly useful in K12 schools where students often use Chromebooks and in any environment where guests need to share content,” Gould said. “It provides a quick and easy way to share to Ditto-enabled displays without the need to download an application.”
