From Days to Minutes: Latest Audiovisual Tech From Squirrels Slashes Deployment Time

Written by Squirrels | November 12, 2019

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — November 12, 2019 — Squirrels LLC today introduced new technology that enables remote, zero-touch deployment of its enterprise-class screen mirroring service to drastically reduce implementation time in schools and businesses.

The latest audiovisual technology advancement from Squirrels is part of the company’s rapidly expanding Ditto wireless presentation ecosystem. Ditto works cross-platform to make wireless screen sharing standardized for organizations of any size.

Squirrels CEO and co-founder Andrew Gould said the latest Ditto release makes deployment more feasible for large organizations that require wireless sharing capabilities in many rooms.

“Screen mirroring requires receiving devices in the places you present wirelessly,” Gould said. “Setting up those receivers was always a huge pain point because it required a physical presence in the room. Imagine having 50, 100, 1000 or more rooms spread out across multiple locations. That’s a reality for some of our users. That deployment process could take days or even weeks.

“We’ve drastically simplified that process for Ditto users. A hardware receiver still needs to be placed in each room, but the Ditto software deployment and management can be done entirely remotely. Ditto can be pushed out to thousands of receivers and set up in an organization’s Ditto Account Portal in a matter of minutes.“

Any organization can use the new deployment features if they have a compatible device management system. Jamf Pro and Cisco Meraki are among the supported device management systems capable of remotely deploying Ditto to various receivers. Ditto account admins access the new deployment features from the web-based Ditto Account Portal.

Reporting metrics
Squirrels also added reporting metrics to Ditto with this release to show activity within a given time period. Reporting metrics show account admins:

  • How many screen mirroring sessions occurred
  • The average amount of time of each screen mirroring session
  • The total amount of time all users spent screen mirroring
  • How users connect to Ditto Receivers

“We’re giving organizations the opportunity to see exactly how their users interact with Ditto,” Gould said. “Reporting metrics will show how Ditto screen mirroring has been adopted across an organization and convey how valuable it is to the organization.”

Improved performance
Ditto received a performance boost as well. Ditto Connect, the app used to wirelessly connect user devices to receivers, features less latency and better frame rates on Mac and Windows, providing a significantly faster and smoother screen mirroring experience.
